Cooler Master MH630

Cooler Master’s MH630 is an entry-level gaming headphone introduced for budget consumers at a decent price of approx 4000 INR. It is around 1000-1200 Rupees less than the MH650 which we reviewed in our last article.

Both The MH630 and the MH650 are similar when it comes to comfort and looks with a few key differences which I will talk about below but before that, let’s see what we get in the box.

Physical Overview of the MH630

The MH630 comes in a box almost same as the MH650.

Opening the box, we see the same layout as the MH650 as well but with some additional cables inside the cable compartment.

We get a detachable 3.5mm cable and also a splitter for audio and mic as well for PC. The MH650 has a USB jack, meanwhile, the MH630 has 3.5mm jack making it usable in lower end to mid-range phones with 3.5mm port as well as the PS4 and the Xbox controller as well.

Both of these cables are braided.

We also get the black portable carrying bag with the MH630 just like the MH650. It’s really good to see this in such a price range where no other brand includes such an important accessory to keep your headphones free from dust while not in use or while carrying around.

We also get the headphone manual as well.

Now taking the headphone out of the box, we get the same breathable thick ear cushions that we get with the MH650. The comfort in both these headphones is simply amazing. No other headphone provides as good comfort as these in this price range.

The left and right side of the headphone is properly marked with purple accents as L and R respectively.

The headphones rotate 90 degrees and sit comfortably on the table or on your neck when not in use and are also lightweight due to the plastic build but make no mistake, it can still take quite a punch.

The headband is the same as the MH650 providing decent head support and comfort.

Unlike the MH650, the MH630 does not have RGB or 7.1. Both sides have these purple accents in the rounded edges with the Cooler Master logo in between them.

We get the usual volume scroller, mic mute switch and the mic port on the left side of the MH630 just like the MH650. We also have the 3.5mm jack port as well here.

The right side is empty as there are no RGB or 7.1 features on the MH630 as compared to the MH650.

Sound

Now, let’s talk about the main thing for which you are here. The sound. The MH630 offers decent soundstage without getting muddy at higher volume, same as the MH650 with one key difference. The bass, as well as the total volume output, is less than the MH650 and this is because of the 3.5mm jack and the absence of USB port.

Having 3.5mm jack and not the USB interface provides less power to the headphones and also does not work with Cooler Masters ” Master Plus” software which does an amazing job when it comes to controlling the headphones bass, treble, and the equalizer.

Hence, the sound coming out at the highest volume is not much and only has a presence of sub-bass and nothing else. But even at this level, the sound does not feel muddy at all. The bass is present and is enough for the soundstage it’s providing at this price point.

Now, let’s talk about the best part of the MH630, which is the positional audio and the mic. Enemy positions can clearly be heard from the MH630. Games tested for these were PUBG (PC), CS:GO, Dota2 and the latest Call of duty: Modern Warfare Warzone.  You can clearly hear every footstep cause of the clarity even at lower volume output.

The Mic present on these is the same as the MH650, hence the best. Once you use these, you will never go back to other mics available at this price point. The voice is clear, has a good amount of bass, does not sound nasal but lacks background noise reduction/cancellation. Hence adjusting the mic volume input is highly recommended while using discord or any other communications app.

Software

Cooler Master’s very own Master Plus software does not work with 3.5mm headphones, hence the MH630 are not supported as well which is a shame since the software does a really nice job with the MH650 but it is still not a dealbreaker given the price of these headphones.

COMPATIBILITY BETWEEN PLATFORMS

The MH630 works with all mobile phones with 3.5mm port and the PC as well as all the consoles including the PS4, XBOX One and the Nintendo Switch which is a very good feature for people who want to use the same headphone across all platforms for convenience.

Pricing And Availability of the MH630

The MH650 from Cooler Master is available for Rs 3840 only from Vedantcomputers. You can also buy them from the MDcomputers website as well.

Conclusion

Cooler Master’s MH630 offers decent audio quality for the budget consumers out there at a very good price point and works across all platforms thanks to its 3.5mm jack. It is very comfortable to wear and can be worn for almost 10-12 hrs every day without feeling nauseous. The only downside in these is the absence of software support due to low power supplied by the analog 3.5mm jack. Overall, a decent product for the price of only around 3900 INR.
