It’s about time we say goodbye to Paint…
Alas, our beloved Microsoft Paint is coming to an end with the upcoming release of the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update. It is officially being classified by Microsoft as a “deprecated feature”, as noted by The Guardian. That means that come this fall, the Paint will not be in active development and might be removed in future releases.
Paint has been our friend since the first Windows 1.0 back in 1985. Microsoft continued to update Paint throughout the years but the basic functionality hasn’t changed that much. It is a very basic image editing tool and like many, my first introduction to the world of computers was through Paint (XP).
It is not surprising as the company is putting its efforts towards the newly introduced Paint 3D which was included in the Windows 10 Creators Update earlier this year.
